LeAnn's Birthday & Father's Day

Spa treatment? For her birthday, LeAnn wanted her toenails painted.....and she wanted me to do it!

I quickly found out it's not that easy.....

but the finished product turned out OK.

This is the cheese cake LeAnn made me for Father's Day. Man-o-man is it something else......and it tastes darn good too! Keylime and strawberries. We shared with Bruce and Carol.

I cooked hamburgers for Father's Day dinner. LeAnn made hers into a Food Channel Masterpiece!

...then along came a spider.....

So mom and I were busy cleaning the back patio, getting it ready for our heavy summer schedule of hosting some cook outs with some of Springfields finest citizens....our friends,
when all of a sudden this big boy drops in to take a look at what's going on. I had never seen anything like it. I grabbed my camera and started shooting. He just hung there busy playing with that gooey amber stuff....whatever that is. It's like he was saying "I'm ready for my photo session now".

We tried to find a picture of it on the internet to see what kind it is but were unsuccessful.
Anyway, I thought the photos were pretty cool.......in a creepy sort of way.

Hoodoo and Big Lake

Warner had a meeting at Hoodoo Ski Resort with some of the YM comm. for planning the upcoming Encampment so I went along for the ride. They surveyed the grounds and decieded where some of the events would be etc.--They are even going to have a sunrise service on the top of Hoodoo (riding the ski lift to get there!). After their meeting we went over to Big Lake(about 2 miles) to check it out. This was a beautiful morning and we enjoyed our time together!

We took this picture of mount Washington over Big Lake from the capm ground. We had to go over some snow drifts to get here and there was still some ice in the lake. Years ago we went camping at Big Lake--the kids swam in this little cove--Ben named it"Diarrhea Bay", because of all the sediment in the bottom. We had a fun time there--celbrated Aaron's B-day with a huge bag of Skittles. Fun memories.

I wanted to see if the water was as cold as it looked, so I started to scooch down to see, and the snow was softer than I figured and I was afraid I would be wading in it, so I sat down. I decided to just go on faith that it as cold as it looks!

This was my first real hike since the hike when I broke both of my arms! I was a little nervous--but I did just fine. I was careful to stay away from the lose gravel!!

Dad has wanted to take me to Mary's peak for a couple of years. So this was the week-end-the weather was perfect and we had the whole day to ourselves. We got lost a few times and Dad had to stop at a TAVERN to ask directions! I wish I would have gotten a photo of that! The drive to the trail head was beautiful and when we finally hiked up to the summit--the view was breath taking! They say that when the air is clear you can see the ocean, there was a little haze so we will have to go back some time and check it out.

Trip cancelled due to the FLU!

I have been dreading this next week because Warner was supposed to leave on Friday for 8 days for a trade show in Texas---I HATE sleeping alone in the house by myself. I have to watch TV until the wee hours of the morning, I get all jittery and sad etc. So he came home tonight and said the whole Trade show had been canceled because of the Swine Flu!! I am truly sorry for those who have the Swine Flu, but I am very happy that I don't have to spend the next 8 nights alone! Also, Warner had signed "us" up to clean the Church this Saturday, we tried to get someone to trade with us but that didn't work out, so I was going to have to do it (Carol very kindly offered to help me, but now she is off the hook.) AND, Warner had been so busy getting ready for this show that he could not work on Stephanie's Wedding photos- So now he will be able to and I can post some! So good news all around(except of course those people with the flu).
Speaking of the flu, I taught Welding today--yes I know it is random for me to be teaching welding the whole place smells awful and the torches really scare me. I told Sister Opager( about 90 years old) about it and she said " Well, they must not have had ANYBODY who knew ANYTHING about it to have to ask you." (scraping the bottom of the barrel is what she really meant) Anyway there was an adult aid there who had FULL BLOWN FLU symptoms--chills and fever and coughing etc.He said he was on his second day of it--he came to school yesterday too!!! WHAT WAS HE THINKING!! coming to a school and spreading his germs around. I got out my Purel and would not go in the part of the room where he was.

Scooter's last weekend at Home

After listening to General Conference we let Andrew decide what to do for fun. He picked:
Bouncing Stephanie as high as he could on the trampoline....

Winning at Croquet and then taking a picture of us all..(sorry Warner this was the best one..hehehe....

and finally playing two on two basketball which ended with Mom getting two jammed fingers! That hurt like the dickens!

But it was worth it, we had a wonderful day together and some fun memories!
