Andrew's Eagle

Andrew and six other boys in his troop recieved their Eagle award on Sunday. The Register Guard did a nice story about them and also posted this video. Andrew actually earned his Eagle two years ago, but waited for his friends to recieve them all together. It was such a nice ceremony, it was held at the beautiful new Scout Service Center and there was standing room only! Way to go Andrew--we are so proud of you!

A week in Utah

I was so excited to fly to Utah to spend a week with Nathan and family. I got to play with the kids, do some cooking to put in their freezer, go to Lily's Ballet class, go to Nathan's school production,go to the BYU Art Museum and see a big painting of Nathan etc. But my main job for the whole week was to hold Baby Oliver--he is so beautiful--as you can plainly see, and I never tired of holding him and admiring him. We also got to spend time with Kristen and Ben, Dylan and Kaci. We even got a glimpse or two and Andrew and his friends who were in Utah for conference and to see some concerts. On Sunday,October 12 was Oliver's blessing day. Nathan gave him such a powerful and tender blessing. I am so glad I was privileged to be there.
When I flew home on Monday, I got in line to chick in and the person right in front of me was Carol(she had been in Rexburg for Mothers' Week)I was just a coincidence that we were right in line together.
It was such a great week--I am so blessed!

"Must Love Dogs"

Here we are relaxing by the Beautiful snake river

In July I spent a week with 3 of my Sisters at a Hot Springs resort along the beautiful Snake River in Idaho. This is an annual event and there are usually seven of us, but Carolyn is on a Mission and KarLee and Kathy had other commitments. We love to spend this time together catching up, playing games, reading, soaking in the natural mineral water (to sooth all our aches and pains) and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. This year I particularly enjoyed the song birds early in the morning and also towards dusk. In the past we have stayed in dome shaped yurts or cabins or motor homes, this year we used Jason's Motor home. It is about 23 years old,Jason affectionately calls it "The Rolling Turd". It has a few funky problems, but it was just right for the three of us (Patsy drove back to Wendell each night so Mack would not be alone).

Sooo-here is the point of this blog: I do not hate dogs, I am however annoyed when people bring their dogs to public places and expect everybody to be as thrilled with their dog as they are! I especially hate it when each perso believes that THEIR dog is the exception to the rule.ie: Last year we went to a spa that had a BIG sign we had to walk past, brushing our shoulders against it, actually that said "No dogs allowed" I said"Marilyn, it says no dog allowed ( I think they meant it too because there were 3 gigantic alligators on the property!!) So Marilyn ( with the dog tucked under her arm) says"Her is not a dog, Her is my baby" and then just walked on past the sign and the alligators and everything! As it turned out this year I was the only one who did not bring a dog! I was completely out numbered! So as the week went on and I tried to bite my tongue when they were telling cute dog stories and look away when they had use plastic bags to pick up dog doodie off the lawn. The clincher was the day we stopped at a grocery store to get supplies (for our traditional BLT Sandwiches) and after I checked out I looked back and all three of them were pawing through a table of dog accessories. There were squeekie toys, leashes, pink sparkly collars, and even doggy clothing. They were going wild--they each got about ten things for their respective dog! I couldn't believe it!So as the week went on, I really tried to see what it was about these little dogs that brought my sisters so much pleasure. I also remembered the little dogs we had when I was growing up ( Suzie and Christie) . Those dogs were great company to me -- I was much MUCH younger than my sisters and spent alot of time alone. Those little dogs had to put up with being dressed up and made to do tricks and be in "Shows" that I made my family come and watch etc.So I came to peace with vacationing with my three sisters and their three dogs. I also reserve the right to get myself a little dog someday. But not,of course, until I am much MUCH older!

We were at the LeAnn's family reunion in Star Valley Wyoming and I was playing frisbee with Nathan and Andrew. I had the camera with me so I started throwing the frisbee and then grabbing the camera and started shooting as the frisbee reached them. Some fun shots....reminded me of a ballet so I set the photos to music.
The reunion was July 2006 and I just got around to finishing this video. I'm the king of procrastination.

For Christmas this year, LeAnn wrote and illustrated a book for each of our 5 grandchildren. We decided it would also be cool to turn the book into a DVD with LeAnn narrating the video. This was a great idea but producing the story books along with the DVD proved impossible to have finished for Christmas......in fact, we just barely finished them and delivered them to the grandkids during our Spring Vacation visit to them in Utah. They took much more time than anticipated, but they're kinda cute. The stories for Ruthie and Chloe are the same...just changed the names so I didn't post one.

Things I would do if I was suddenly a billionaire: I would relax about our "retirement"!

3 of my bad habits:--

buying fancy ribbon--I love the big rolls at Costco and it is such a good deal, but I think I have about 20 rolls and I know I will never be able to use it all!

A little PEP from the Miller Pep Band!

Here is a little snip of the Miller Pep Band at last nights Basketball game. It was Senior night, they played North Eugene and came in second by about 10 points. Oh well, It's all about the music anyway! Enjoy--I know this will bring back some fond "Miller" memories for some of you!!
